Opposition Leaders Boycott Election Results Announcement As Swapo’s Majority Shrinks

  The Swapo Party retained its majority in the National Assembly with 51 seats, a decline from 63 in 2019. The Independent Patriots for Change surged to 20 seats, marking significant gains. Opposition leaders boycotted the election results announcement, except Affirmative Repositioning leader Job Amupanda, who accused the Electoral Commission of election theft. Meanwhile, the National Democratic Party secured one seat, with its leader Lukato Lukato entering parliament.

Swapo promises 250,000 jobs for youth

With Namibia facing high unemployment levels and political parties ramping up their campaign efforts to sway voters, the Swapo Party’s presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has announced that the party has allocated over N$80 billion to create more than 250,000 jobs for unemployed youth in the country over the next five years.

Swapo and IPC manifestos reveal big budget plans

The Swapo Party's manifesto. Launched on Saturday, promises to spend over N$85 billion to create jobs for unemployed Namibians over the next five years if they win the election.
