Senate votes against call for human rights report on Israel-Gaza conflict

The US Senate has rejected a resolution that would have required the State Department to report on human rights violations that possibly occurred, using American equipment in Israel’s war in Gaza. The resolution, which was rejected by 72 votes to eleven, was led by progressive independent Bernie Sanders who said that it was to limit the war’s devastation.

Henry Kissinger, the former secretary of state who defined US foreign policy in the 1970s, has died aged 100. Simon Marks reports. Kissinger served as America's top diplomat and national security adviser during the Nixon and Ford administrations. Kissinger was a joint recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize - along with the leader of North Vietnam - in 1973.
