California faces “life-threatening” flooding

The US state of California is facing heavy rain and snowfall, with authorities issuing flood warnings described as "life-threatening". Around 94% of the population - 37 million people - are now under flood alerts, while some communities have been told to evacuate. The state is forecast to experience several days of extreme weather. The US has approved a four billion USD deal to potentially sell India 31 armed drones, six years after the two sides first started discussing the pact. The approval by the US State Department comes as the White House continues to try and wean New Delhi away from Russian arms. Priyata Brajabasi reports.

US lawmakers could unveil sweeping new border reforms this week, according to sources. After weeks of closed-door negotiations, a bipartisan immigration proposal could be on the cards - marking the first major policy overhaul since the 1990s. U.S. journalist to be held another two months by Russia, without trial

Evan Gerschkovich, who is being held in Russia, has once again had his detention extended – even before his case has made it to court. He will remain behind bars until at least March 30th – at least a year since he was first detained for spying, charges that the U.S. government denies. Caroline Malone reports.
