The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation in S.A warns the permanent freeze of USAID grants in South Africa will have severe consequences in the battle against HIV and AIDS. The foundation's CEO Linda-Gail Bekker says the cancelled funding, including for PEPFAR, which supports 5.5-million people with antiretroviral treatment, threatens critical services. US National Security Advisor defends shutting USAID

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has defended President Donald Trump's decision to shutter the US Agency for International Development. The Trump administration announced a funding freeze for the agency but has so far been blocked by a judge from putting thousands of its employees on unpaid administrative leave.
