Spring Blood Donation Clinics: Save Lives with Unity

The power of unity  is by donating blood and saving lives! The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia is urging all eligible and healthy donors to donate blood this Saturday to help ensure that lives are saved

Blood products are used in many cases, not just for trauma and emergency patients in need of blood after a motor vehicle accident or other accidents. Mothers having complications during pregnancy and birth, premature infants, burn victims, cancer patients, patients with chronic illnesses, surgery patients and others with renal, cardiac, liver and blood conditions all require blood products.

Please announce the Windhoek, Walvis Bay  and Oshakati spring blood donation clinics which will take place on Saturday, 09th March 2024  as follows:

  • Windhoek Town Blood Donation Clinic to be held at the NAMBTS Headquarters Centre (35 Tal Street, Ausspannplatz) from 08h00 – 14h00
  • Walvis Bay Town Blood Donation Clinic to be held at the NAMBTS Centre located Welwitschia Medi Park 14th str        EET no.55 from 08h00-14h00
  • Oshakati Town Blood Donation Clinic to be held at the NAMBTS Oshakati Centre located on Oshakati State Hospital Grounds from 08h00 – 14h00

Transport is available for  all  blood donation sessions. To make arrangements in Windhoek contact Salmi on 081 122 1265 , Walvis Bay  contact Arlindo on 081 143 4893 and for Oshakati contact Adolf on 081 162 0834.

Just to refresh your memory, the basic donor criteria are:

–       You should be between the ages of 16 – 65.

–       Weigh more than 50kg’s.

–       Be medically healthy.

–       Lead a safe lifestyle.

–       Be committed to helping others.

 

Tips when donating blood:

–       Eat a substantial meal 3-4 hours before donating blood.

–       Drink lots of water and/or juice before, during and after donation.

–       Take it easy on the exercise after donation.
